Movies in the City - Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

Hello everyone! Alright, so I’m doing another “Movies in the City” and this one is for New York City! Hope you like it :)

Well, I’ve seen a ton of movies that take place in NYC and this is one of my absolute favorites.  Michael Cera (huge fan of him!) and Kat Dennings star in it and Peter Sollett directs.

The story is about Nick and Norah, two teenagers from New Jersey, who happen to meet in a bar after Norah asks Nick to be her boyfriend for five minutes (you’ll have to watch it to know why :D). As the night goes on, they run around New York City together searching for their favorite band who are playing a secret show in the city somewhere and they are also looking for Norah’s drunk friend who has wandered off! 

Now, if you’re looking for a movie that shows the tourist side of New York, than this isn’t it. Although the movie is placed in New York, I wouldn’t say it’s about New York. It was shot on location in Manhattan’s East Village, the Lower East Side, Penn Station, and the Port Authority Bus Terminal (lol)!                                                                                           It also has a great scene inside Electric Lady Studios, a recording studio in Greenwich Village, which was built by Jimi Hendrix in 1970 and has seen the likes of John Lennon, Bob Dylan, AC/DC, and The Rolling Stones!

Honestly, this movie is one of the most carefree movies ever.  If you take the movie too seriously, than you’re missing the fun in it!  Also, it has the most amazing soundtrack :)

Movies in the City My favorite movie for Rome is definitely Roman Holiday. Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck star in it and William Wyler directs. The movie is about a princess (Audrey Hepburn) who is tired of her constrained life and while she is visiting Rome, she runs away and finds herself in the heart of Rome..alone..lol Along the way she meets a newspaper reporter (Gregory Peck) and he decides to show her the real Rome.  The movie has fantastic scenes at The Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain,The Pantheon, and The Colusseum. My favorite scene is the famous scooter scene pictured above :)
*Movies in the City* “Funny Face” is one of my favorite Audrey Hepburn movies :)  I picked this film because it features so many beautiful scenes in Paris, France. It’s about a fashion photographer who is looking for a new model for his editor. He finds the perfect model and they are off to Paris for photo shoots and runway shows! I won’t ruin too much of the plot for you guys! The film was made in 1957 and also features Fred Astaire and Kay Thompson. I would definitely recommend it! :)
I’m going to start a new thing for this blog, I’m going to call it “Movies in the City” and basically, it’s going to be my favorite movies that feature cities around the world in them. Hope you guys like it :)    I decided to start with my hometown which is Chicago, IL.                              The movie is “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”. It was written and directed by John Hughes in 1986. Basically, it’s about this high school boy who decides to skip school for the day and take his girlfriend and his best friend into the city for fun. The movie has great shots of The Lake, the Chicago skyline, The Sears Tower, a whole scene shot inside of The Art Institute and even a parade passing by Daley Plaza!
